Cisco Enters AI Networking Race with Silicon One G300 Switch
Cisco has launched the Silicon One G300, a 102.4 Tbps switch designed to compete with Nvidia's Spectrum-X and Broadcom's Tomahawk 6 in AI infrastructure. The new chip features 512 SerDes lanes capable of 200 Gbps throughput, enabling support for 128,000 GPUs using just 750 switches—a 70% reduction from previous requirements.
The release includes liquid-cooling systems for high-density optics and optimized Nexus One software for enterprise AI development. Cisco claims the G300 can achieve 1.6 terabits per second in merged configurations, positioning it as a challenger in the booming AI hardware market.
